Filipino figure skater Michael Martinez placed sixth in the Lombardia Trophy 2014 held in Milan, Italy on Sept. 18-21.
 
Martinez, who competed in the Sochi Winter Olympics last March, scored 199.92 points to finish sixth out of 13 participants. Richard Dornbush of USA bagged the championship with 237.78 points.
 
Martinez finished sixth in the short program with 67.36 points. He improved to fifth during the free skate, but ranked sixth overall.

I really hope that he finds funding somehow, this kid is so talented. The Philipines has a huge interest in sports and a huge skating following too. I don’t see how he wouldn’t be a good investment for sponsors. Imagine if he is very successful. He could be to the Philippines what Yuna is to Korea.


Luckily enough, he will now receive $100,000+ every single year from a famous corporation in the Philippines! Having skated with him a lot in the Philippines, I know how hardworking he is, and I am glad he is competing in Skate America this year! :)
